If the sperm count is sufficient and the patient can provide a sample, the sample is taken by masturbation in the unit. If the sperm count is very low or the patient cannot provide a sample, the sperm sample is taken under anaesthesia with minor surgical intervention.<\/p><p>After the sperm is collected, it is first analysed in the embryology laboratory and preparations are made to select the healthiest sperm.
